Okay, it's colouring time again!  I had enormous fun on this one and I really want to commend mawiisama for giving me such a wonderful piece to work with.  Because of the skill in th drawing I really felt pressured to do an equally accomplished colouring job.  I spent about five hours colouring this one and another two hours tweaking it again and again until it looked finished.  (I could probably work faster if I weren't such a perfectionist.)  At any rate, I consider this my best colouring work to date.  As always comments are welcome, and if you wish to comment on the original drawing as well, I will pass the comments along to the original artist, who happens to be a co-worker.

Drawn by mawiisama (mawiisama.deviantart.com) so I'd have something to colour. This drawing is amazing! The paws are so cute!

My coloured version of mawiisama's incredible drawing. I had so much fun doing this because the original drawing was so charming and detailed. Thank you for the opportunity!

The unedited original scan of Chris's pencil rendering of this character. It later became the detailed outline for the coloured version I produced.

The completed picture, fully coloured, after about 8 hours from start to finish.

Chris asked if I'd colour his next drawing (after "Mashu") and of course I said yes.  I scanned his pencil drawing and cut out the outline one day, did the basic colouring another day, talked to him a bit and made some minor changes along the way, then finished the shade and light today, as well as the background.  This was really a lot of work but I enjoyed it and feel very satisfied with the results.  My technique for shading and lighting has really improved, I feel.  I need more practice with textures, I think.  Perhaps I should get into some art communities and get a feel for what works for other artists.  I want to thank Chris for letting me use his drawings as a testing ground for my learning process.
